I don't think anyone here argues the fact that this is the parents fault. I just think having a dog alive on earth thats been bred to do nothing but kill, is insanity. Oh yes, theres those out there that people THINK are house broken, but its in their blood. They are called PITbull for a reason. They were bred to be thrown into a pit and fight to the death. Their sole purpose in life is to kill.

Theres quite a few dogs that were bred for hunting and killing animals. I am not a pitbull fan, but I don't want to see them wiped off the planet. Spuds MacKenzie was one cool pitbull.

I've got a half boxer/half pit in my house. We will not leave our kids alone in the same room as the dog. He has been wonderful so far and we have had him since he was 4 weeks old so I also thinks it's all in how they are raised as well.

But Spuds is a Bull Terrier, also originally a fighting dog, but at least their lines have been cleaned up to some degree by reputible breeders breeding for conformation and proper temperament rather than fighting skills.

Staffordshires are the big muscular breed, bred by people who want fighting dogs, dogs that look mean, tough dogs, status dogs. Their breeding has gone the opposite direction of the Bull Terrier.
The "good" Staffordshires are the ones you see in shows at Westminster, bred for conformity; aggressive dogs aren't bred. You cannot get a reliable staffordshire from a back yard breeder or puppy mill. Reckless breeding makes the matter so much worse.

I'll reiterate though, the pit isn't the only dog with the propensity to turn, and not all pits will act on that inbred instinct.
    You'll shoot your eye out.

Your right come to think of it, I was think Spuds was a pitbull. Been a long time since those commercials.

The dog in the Target commercials is a Bull Terrier too. Cute critter.
A Bull Terrier won Best In Show at Westminster a few years ago - good looking dog.

Yeah they are, just not my type of critter, although I do have a wired haired Jack Russell ( I know they are called something else by the AKC). Im more of a beagle fan or other hunting dog breeds.

    I'm a hound person myself.
My mom is a chihuahua person
My older sister is a Boston Terrier person.

To each his own! (even though dachshunds are the superior dog )
